Networked-based stabilization via discontinuous Lyapunov functionals

چکیده
This paper presents a new stability and L2-gain analysis of linear Networked Control Systems (NCS). The new method is inspired by discontinuous Lyapunov functions that were introduced by Naghshtabrizi et al. (Syst. Control Lett. 2008; 57:378–385; Proceedings 26th American Control Conference, New York, U.S.A., July 2007) in the framework of impulsive system representation. Most of the existing works on the stability of NCS (in the framework of time delay approach) are reduced to some Lyapunov-based analysis of systems with uncertain and bounded time-varying delays. This analysis via time-independent Lyapunov functionals does not take advantage of the sawtooth evolution of the delays induced by sample-and-hold. The latter drawback was removed by Fridman (Automatica 2010; 46:421–427), where time-dependent Lyapunov functionals for sampled-data systems were introduced. This led to essentially less conservative results. The objective of the present paper is to extend the time-dependent Lyapunov functional approach to NCS, where variable sampling intervals, data packet dropouts, and variable network-induced delays are taken into account. The Lyapunov functionals in this paper depend on time and on the upper bound of the network-induced delay, and these functionals do not grow along the input update times. The new analysis is applied to the state-feedback and to a novel network-based static output-feedback H∞ control problems. Numerical examples show that the novel discontinuous terms in Lyapunov functionals essentially improve the results. Copyright 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A Novel Discontinuous Lyapunov Functional Approach to Networked-Based Stabilization
This paper presents a new stability analysis of Networked Control Systems (NCSs), where the sampling and the constant network-induced delays are taken into account. The new method is inspired by discontinuous Lyapunov functionals that were recently introduced for sampled-data systems in [1] (in the framework of impulsive system representation) and in [2] (in the framework of input delay approac...
متن کاملWirtinger's inequality and Lyapunov-based sampled-data stabilization
Discontinuous Lyapunov functionals appeared to be very efficient for sampled-data systems (Fridman, 2010; Naghshtabrizi, Hespanha, & Teel, 2008). In the present paper, new discontinuous Lyapunov functionals are introduced for sampled-data control in the presence of a constant input delay. The construction of these functionals is based on the vector extension of Wirtinger’s inequality. These fun...
متن کاملDesign of Observer-based H∞ Controller for Robust Stabilization of Networked Systems Using Switched Lyapunov Functions
In this paper, H∞ controller is synthesized for networked systems subject to random transmission delays with known upper bound and different occurrence probabilities in the both of feedback (sensor to controller) and forward (controller to actuator) channels. A remote observer is employed to improve the performance of the system by computing non-delayed estimates of the sates. The closed-loop s...
متن کاملStabilization of Networked Control Systems with Variable Delays and Saturating Inputs
In this paper, improved conditions for the synthesis of static state-feedback controller are derived to stabilize networked control systems (NCSs) subject to actuator saturation. Both of the data packet latency and dropout which deteriorate the performance of the closed-loop system are considered in the NCS model via variable delays. Two different techniques are employed to incorporate actuator...
